FAQ

What is freediving, and how is it different from scuba diving?

Freediving is the practice of diving underwater on a single breath without the use of breathing equipment, relying on your body’s natural ability to adapt to pressure and conserve oxygen. Unlike scuba diving, which uses tanks and regulators to provide air, freediving focuses on techniques like breath-holding, relaxation, and efficient movement. This minimalist approach offers a quiet, intimate connection with the ocean.

Do I need prior experience to join your classes?

No prior experience is needed to join our freediving classes! We welcome everyone, from complete beginners to experienced divers looking to improve their skills. Our courses are designed to guide you step-by-step, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident as you learn.

Can I join a fun dive without certification?

Unfortunately no, a certification is required to join our fun dives. This ensures the safety of all participants and allows us to maintain high standards during dives. Certification verifies that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle various underwater conditions confidently. If you’re not yet certified, we’d love to help you get started with one of our AIDA-certified freediving courses!

What do I need to bring for freediving?

We provide weights, weight belts, a mask, and a snorkel for your freediving experience. You’ll need to bring your own wetsuit and fins. If you don’t have a wetsuit, you can rent one from any scuba shops on the island the day before, as our sessions often start early in the morning. For fins, you can rent or buy full-pocket fins from local stores like Oahu’s ABC Stores or Don Quijote. Additionally, don’t forget to bring sunscreen, water, and a towel to stay protected, hydrated, and comfortable during your session.

Where are we meeting up?

We typically meet in the general Waikiki area. However, the exact location will be disclosed within a week prior to your session’s start date. This allows us to choose the best and safest spot based on Hawaii’s ever-changing water conditions.

How do I book a class or dive?

Booking is easy! Simply fill out our request form with your preferred dates and details, and we’ll get back to you with availability and confirmation.

What happens if I can't pass a requirement during the course?

No worries! You’ll have up to 12 months to complete any remaining requirements to earn your certification. Simply coordinate with your instructor to schedule a day in a future course, subject to availability.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

To secure your spot, full payment is required at the time of booking (before the invoice due date). Please take a moment to review our Terms and Conditions, Courses Policies, and Fun Dive Policies for more detailed fine-prints.
